FEA & Mesh Partitioning

 The goal of this project is to partition a simple 3D solid into different sections, then apply different loads on these localities.


Results are shown in the following video, followed by detailed steps of the project:

Partitioning is done using "Simulation Model Preparation" application, via "Partition" command. Cutting elements creations varied between planes and extruded surfaces.




Moreover, advanced and variable meshing is applied to the model. A higher number of elements is used around areas in which relatively higher stress is expected. In these regions, the mesh size has been reduced by a factor of about 10.

The assumed material is Carbon Fiber, and its properties were applied accordingly.





The forces applied on the 3D shape are as follows:
- 4000N on the portioned edge of the half cylindrical extension. 
- Bearing load inside the fully cylindrical shape 2000N in y-direction.
- Pressure on the outer surface of the cylindrical shape 1500 N/m2. 
- Gravity effect is also included

As for boundary condition, it is done to simulate a bolted installation as shown:
